Avery Dennison NT PerLite Ceramic Window Film
If the afternoon sun makes a favorite room uncomfortable, a neutral ceramic film gives you several ways to balance heat, glare and daylight. Avery Dennison NT PerLite Ceramic is an interior architectural film family with four grades: 20i, 35i, 50i and 70i. Their differences matter more than simply choosing “ceramic.”
WindowTint.biz can help you compare that balance in your home or business. During a free consultation, we come out, measure the glass, bring samples, answer questions and quote on site.
Which PerLite grade fits the room?
The darker options pass less daylight and provide more solar control on Avery’s reference glass. The lighter options keep the room brighter. A television room with low afternoon sun may need a different compromise from a kitchen or a living room where the view comes first.
Manufacturer reference-glass comparison
NT PerLite Ceramic 20i
Visible light transmitted: 22%
Total solar energy rejected: 70%
NT PerLite Ceramic 35i
Visible light transmitted: 40%
Total solar energy rejected: 55%
NT PerLite Ceramic 50i
Visible light transmitted: 51%
Total solar energy rejected: 49%
NT PerLite Ceramic 70i
Visible light transmitted: 68%
Total solar energy rejected: 31%
Figures are from Avery Dennison’s individual data sheets, using each sheet’s Single-pane column. Avery calculates these values on 3 mm glass with NFRC methodology and LBNL Window 5.2. They are estimates for that reference glazing, not a prediction for your windows. The film names are grade names; they do not state exact installed light transmission.
20i is the strongest shading option in this group. Compare it carefully if the room already feels dim outside sunny hours. 35i sits between the darkest and lighter grades and is worth sampling when both glare and the view matter. 50i lets more visible light through than 35i, while 70i is the lightest choice in this family. A higher light-transmission figure does not mean stronger heat rejection.

What will the glass look like?
PerLite has a neutral grey appearance. “Neutral” describes its color direction; the finished window will still look different according to the chosen grade, existing glass and lighting. Ceramic also does not mean reflection-free. Check a sample from the seating area and from outside rather than judging the effect from a small swatch held against a white wall.
At night, room lights can reflect in the glass. The darkest grade is not automatically the easiest one to see through after sunset. If you often sit beside these windows in the evening, include that use in the decision. For a broader comparison of Avery’s architectural options, visit our Avery Dennison window film guide.
Heat at the window and glare on a screen need different checks
Feeling hot beside a window and struggling to read a screen are related problems, but they do not always call for the same shade. We look at when the sun reaches the room, where you sit and whether direct brightness or overall solar gain is the bigger concern. Our west-facing window guide explains why the timing of the sun matters.
Total solar energy rejected describes solar performance on the reference glass. It is not the percentage your electricity bill will fall or the percentage a room will cool. The windows, shading and the rest of the building all affect comfort. We can also compare whether treating a particular bank of windows makes more sense than using the same grade throughout every room.
Check the windows before choosing the shade
We assess the glazing, existing coatings, pane size, framing, condition and sun exposure before recommending an application. A product table cannot approve an unknown dual-pane or low-e window. Existing window warranties and any building or association appearance requirements belong in that review.
These four PerLite grades are solar-control films. Avery also has thicker products with PerLite in their names for different applications, so a quote should identify the exact film. If glass retention or security is a goal, tell us at the consultation so it can be evaluated separately. You can read more about the installation process on our residential window film page.

Questions about NT PerLite Ceramic
Will PerLite Ceramic make my windows mirrored?
Its neutral appearance is different from a deliberately mirrored finish, but every grade has some reflection. Compare the proposed sample inside and outside; the darkest grade may look more reflective than you expect.
Can people see through it at night?
Solar film is not a dependable nighttime privacy treatment. When the room is brighter than outside, people may see in. Keep suitable blinds or shades for private rooms, or discuss an obscuring privacy film where you do not need a clear view.
Will it stop my furniture from fading?
UV filtering can help reduce one cause of fading. Visible light, heat, materials and exposure time also matter, so film cannot eliminate fading or restore existing damage.
What will the installation cost?
Cost depends on the selected film, glass area, preparation and access. We measure during the free visit and explain the proposed scope and applicable written warranty with the quote.
