Home and Commercial Window Tinting Cost
Window tinting is priced around the film you choose, the glass being treated, and the work needed to install it. A few living-room windows, a storefront, and a high office glass wall can need very different amounts of material and labor. Counting windows alone won't give you a dependable total.
We offer free on-site consultations for homes and businesses across Southern California. Our team measures, brings samples, and gives you a price on the spot for suitable film options and the windows you choose.
What Changes the Price of Window Tinting?
Film choice. Solar control, frosted privacy, decorative, and safety/security films serve different purposes. We help you compare suitable options for the result you want.
Glass area and layout. Large panes need more material, while many small panes, unusual shapes, and detailed cuts can add installation time.
Access. High windows, skylights, stairwells, and glass above counters or equipment need a different access plan from an open, ground-level window.
Existing film. Removal and adhesive cleanup are separate work to account for when old film is already on the glass.
Coverage. Treating one room, one side of a building, or all the windows changes the scope. Decorative bands and full-pane coverage also involve different work.
Glass condition and suitability. We check the existing glass before recommending a product. Film cannot fix damaged glass or a failed window seal.
The aim is to price the work your property needs. Our solar control guide explains the balance between heat control, glare, daylight, and appearance.
Three Ways a Project Might Be Scoped
A hot living room: You may want to start with the windows getting afternoon sun. We can compare treating those panes with treating the room's full set, including how a partial project would look from outside. See our guide to window film for hot rooms.
A street-facing business: The front windows may need solar control, while an interior meeting room needs frosting. We can discuss different treatments for different areas rather than assuming one film belongs everywhere. Our commercial window film guide covers common business applications.
Old film on overhead glass: A replacement quote needs to account for removal, cleanup, new film, and safe access. Our Los Angeles skylight project shows that sequence, with deteriorated film replaced by white frost. It illustrates the work involved, without suggesting that every skylight needs the same treatment.

How to Compare Window Film Quotes
Start by checking that each quote covers the same panes and identifies the proposed film. “Window tint” alone doesn't tell you its appearance or suitability for your glass.
Compare installation, any old-film removal and adhesive cleanup, access arrangements, and the total for the selected work. If an entry needs a safety/security system, any specified attachment to the frame should be part of that discussion. Ask which product and installation warranty terms apply, and whether any separate glass or seal coverage is offered for that exact application. One warranty should never be assumed to cover everything.
When two film options have similar prices
Once the proposed work covers the same windows, look more closely at the film comparison. Ask for the full product name and the specification sheet behind each recommendation, then work through these questions:
Are the performance figures based on comparable glass? A sheet may report results on a particular thickness of clear glass. Your existing double-pane or low-e window may be different. Ask which figures apply to your glass before using a headline percentage to choose between quotes.
What does each number describe? Visible light transmission, total solar energy rejected and interior reflection answer different questions. Compare the same measures for both options, then view samples where daylight, screens and the view matter. Our solar control guide explains the tradeoffs.
What changes if the product changes? If another shade or roll width is proposed, ask for the revised product, glass-suitability check and price before approving it. For oversized panes, our large-window installation guide explains why product width can affect the layout.
Ask which decisions are settled and which still need checking. Keep the chosen product and agreed scope together so a later revision is easy to compare.

Window Tinting Cost FAQs
-
There isn't one reliable whole-home price without knowing the windows and chosen film. Two homes with the same number of windows may have very different pane sizes, access, or old film to remove. During the free visit, we can price the rooms you're considering and explain what changes the total.
-
Glass area matters, but a square-foot figure alone may leave out important work. Many small panes, difficult access, and removal can change the labor involved. We'll measure the actual glass and price the selected film and installation scope, so you can compare complete project totals.
-
You can discuss starting with the windows that matter most. We'll look at the effect on comfort and appearance and explain what is included in the initial quote. We'll confirm the film options, windows to include, and price when you're ready for each later stage.
-
The building label doesn't determine the price by itself. An accessible office window may be straightforward, while a high residential skylight can need more planning. For a business, we also discuss access around staff, customers, desks, and stock, along with any scheduling requirements that affect the work.
-
That depends on the agreed scope. If film is already installed, we'll assess it and make clear whether the quote includes removal and adhesive cleanup before new film goes on. Our window film removal and replacement guide explains what we check and why the underlying glass matters.
-
Darkness alone doesn't tell you how well a film suits the job. A room where you want a view and plenty of daylight has different needs from glass you want obscured for privacy. We'll compare suitable samples and product information against your priorities rather than choosing on shade alone.
-
Just arrange the visit and tell us what you'd like to improve. We handle measurements, photos, samples, and the glass assessment. If you're coordinating a business or a property you don't occupy, we can discuss access arrangements when scheduling. You don't need to prepare measurements or research film products.
