Avery Dennison SkyLite XTRM PRO Window Film
A skylight can bring welcome daylight into a room and also put strong sun directly over a desk, seating area or work space. Avery Dennison SkyLite 20 XTRM PRO is a specialty exterior solar-control film developed for horizontal and sloped roof glazing. It has separate versions for glass and plastic substrates, so identifying the skylight comes before choosing the film.
WindowTint.biz offers a free on-site consultation to evaluate the glazing and access. Our team comes out, measures, brings samples and answers your questions, then quotes the proposed scope after assessing the project.
Two SkyLite products for different materials
SkyLite 20 XTRM PRO
The standard SkyLite 20 XTRM PRO construction is specified for glass skylights. We check the glass assembly, any coatings, pane size and condition before recommending an application. The roof angle and surrounding shade also belong in that review.
SkyLite 20 XTRM PRO Poly
The Poly version is specified for plastic-substrate skylights. It has a separate installation procedure. A polycarbonate or acrylic panel must still be assessed for its particular construction and surface; “plastic” is not a complete product specification.
Avery’s rigid-plastic film guide calls for additional attention to unfamiliar substrates and scratch-resistant coatings. It does not recommend corrugated substrates. Multiwall panels also need particular installation care. These details are reasons to identify the skylight accurately rather than select film from a photograph alone.
The two named PRO products appear together in the SkyLite technical data sheet, but their shared family name does not make them interchangeable. We confirm the correct material for your project during the consultation and specification review.

Balance solar control with useful daylight
SkyLite 20 XTRM PRO has a neutral tinted appearance. That tint changes the daylight entering through the roof glazing. If the skylight is the room’s main source of natural light, preserving enough brightness outside the sunniest hours may be as important as reducing the direct sun.
Tell us where and when the problem occurs. Glare across a computer screen, a bright patch across a counter and warmth beneath a large rooflight can call for different priorities. We look at the whole room, including other windows and existing shades, so the recommendation fits how the space is used.
Published film data describes particular test or reference conditions. It should not be read as a promise that the room will cool by a certain number of degrees or that an electricity bill will fall by the same percentage. Existing glazing, shading and building conditions all affect the result.
Roof slope, drainage and edge treatment matter
Water behaves differently on a rooflight than on a vertical window. We assess where water drains and whether it can collect near a frame or film edge. The skylight’s pitch, shape and surrounding details affect that review.
Avery’s SkyLite installation guide distinguishes glass and Poly procedures. Edge-sealing requirements must be confirmed for the selected construction and site conditions, including places where water can collect. We include the required treatment in the proposed scope and follow the applicable manufacturer instructions.
Leaks, failed seals or damaged glazing need separate assessment and repair. It helps to tell us about any known moisture problem before the visit, so it can be considered when evaluating the skylight.
Plan installation and future care together
A skylight’s size is only part of the installation scope. Roof access, height, nearby equipment and safe working space can affect whether and how the job can proceed. We evaluate those conditions before confirming an installation approach or price.
Ongoing cleaning also needs a workable access plan and the selected film’s care instructions. Avery’s exterior warranty varies with the product, orientation, location and installation conditions. We explain the applicable written terms with the recommendation. The broader Avery Dennison architectural-film guide can help if you are considering vertical windows as part of the same project.

Questions about SkyLite XTRM PRO
Can SkyLite XTRM PRO be applied to any skylight?
The glass and Poly versions serve different substrates. We need to identify the actual glazing, coatings, condition, shape and exposure before determining suitability. A plastic skylight needs a specific compatibility review even when the word Poly appears in the film name.
Will it darken the room?
SkyLite 20 XTRM PRO is a tinted solar-control film. It changes the daylight coming through the roof glazing. Compare a sample with the room’s use, existing skylight and other windows so the heat/glare improvement is balanced against the light you want to keep.
Can ordinary exterior window film be used instead?
A product intended for vertical glass is not automatically suitable for roof glazing. Horizontal and sloped installations have different exposure and water-management conditions. The chosen film must have appropriate manufacturer instructions for the actual installation.
What determines the cost?
The glazing area, substrate, preparation, roof access, working conditions and required edge treatment all affect the quote. We assess those details during the free visit, confirm the recommended material and explain the proposed scope and applicable written warranty.
