LLumar Vista Low-E Window Film: Ambiance and Radiance

If a room gets too warm in the afternoon and uncomfortable beside the windows on cooler evenings, low-E film may be worth comparing. LLumar Vista Low-E combines solar control with a low-emissivity surface intended to reduce radiant heat transfer through suitable existing glass.

The two named choices are Ambiance VE35 SR CDF and Radiance VE50 SR CDF. WindowTint.biz helps Southern California homeowners and businesses decide whether either fits the windows and the way the space is used. Our free on-site consultation includes measuring, samples, questions and a quote.

What does low-E film do?

Low-E means low emissivity. In practical terms, this type of film is designed to help retain indoor heat in cooler weather while also reducing incoming solar heat when the sun is strong. LLumar describes Vista Low-E as a seasonal energy-conservation option for existing windows.

Whether that is useful in your building depends on more than the weather forecast. A west-facing room with persistent afternoon sun has a different balance from a shaded office that needs every bit of daylight. Heating and cooling schedules, window area and existing glass all affect the choice.

We start with the discomfort you notice, then look at what is causing it. Film works at the glass. A draft around a damaged seal or a poorly closing window needs a separate repair assessment. If the main concern is simply a bright screen or a hot patch of sunlight, we can also compare conventional solar-control window film.

Ambiance or Radiance?

Both belong to the Vista Low-E family, but the daylight and reflected appearance differ noticeably.

  • Ambiance VE35 SR CDF is the darker, more reflective choice in the pair, with stronger solar control on the manufacturer's reference glass. It is worth comparing where bright sun is a significant part of the problem.

  • Radiance VE50 SR CDF lets more visible light through and has lower reflectance on the same reference glass. It can be a useful comparison when maintaining room brightness matters more.

LLumar's March 2026 Vista performance sheet reports visible-light transmission of 26% for Ambiance and 51% for Radiance. The values use NFRC guidelines on single-pane, 1/8-inch (3 mm) clear glass, with representative samples subject to normal manufacturing variation. Your glass changes the installed result.

The number within each product name is not a promise about the finished window's light transmission. We keep the complete code on the recommendation so the sample, quotation and supplied film refer to the same choice.

Compare daylight and reflection in the room

A lower heat-gain figure is only part of the decision. If the room already feels dim, losing more daylight may be an unwelcome tradeoff. If the afternoon brightness makes you close the blinds, a darker option may be more comfortable during those hours. The sample comparison helps put both priorities in context.

Reflections matter from both sides. Our team looks at the building's exterior and the view from the seats, desks or counters you use. Interior reflections can become more noticeable when the lights are on and it is darker outside. A reflective film should never be relied on for dependable nighttime privacy.

For a commercial frontage, we also discuss how the film may affect views of displays from outdoors. For a home, we consider neighboring windows and the overall appearance across the elevation. You do not need to choose a shade from a photograph before we visit.

Existing low-E glass needs its own check

Some windows already have a factory low-E coating. That does not automatically make another low-E product helpful or appropriate. The coating location, glass construction and proposed film need to be assessed together.

We inspect the glazing, pane dimensions, condition, shading and any existing tint or film. Where the installation needs manufacturer approval, that check belongs in the recommendation before work is scheduled. If removal or window repairs affect the scope, we explain them with the quote.

The proposed coverage can also vary by room or elevation. We can compare treating the troublesome windows with treating a larger matching group, while keeping the appearance of the building in mind. Any energy-use estimate should be based on the actual building and an appropriate model; a glass performance percentage is not a utility-bill savings percentage.

Questions about Vista Low-E

Will it turn my windows into double-pane windows?

It adds a coating to existing glass; it does not add a second pane, repair seals or replace the frame. We explain the proposed improvement in the context of the windows you already have.

Is Ambiance the same as LLumar LE35?

The product codes are different. This page covers Vista Ambiance VE35 SR CDF and Vista Radiance VE50 SR CDF. Standard LLumar LE35 SR CDF and LE50 SR CDF appear in the separate LLumar solar specification sheet and should not be substituted by name. Your quote will identify the actual Vista film.

Will I save a specific amount on energy?

That depends on the building, orientation, HVAC system, use and local conditions. We can discuss the comfort objective and whether a building-specific energy assessment would be useful, without promising a fixed reduction or payback period.

What warranty applies?

We confirm the applicable written warranty for the exact film and residential or commercial installation. Film coverage, glass-related coverage and exclusions need to be reviewed separately. We explain those details before you choose.
