Solar Gard Panorama Hilite Window Film

Keeping a room bright can be just as important as making it more comfortable in the sun. Solar Gard Panorama Hilite is a spectrally selective solar-film family worth comparing when you want heat control and need to be deliberate about how much daylight remains.

The range includes different light levels, so choosing Hilite still means choosing a particular film. At your free consultation, the WindowTint.biz team visits your home or business, measures the windows, brings samples, answers questions and prepares an on-site quote.

What makes Hilite a daylight-focused option?

Spectrally selective films manage different parts of sunlight differently. That is useful when reducing the room's visible light is only part of the goal. With Hilite, we can compare the balance between light transmission and solar energy control across the individual shades.

For the current manufacturer's information, see Solar Gard's Panorama Hilite page. The family includes both lighter and darker-looking choices. We look at the specific sample rather than assuming every Hilite installation will be nearly invisible.

That distinction matters in a home with a valued view, a customer-facing room or a shop where merchandise needs to be visible through the front glass. The question is which appearance and balance work for that use.

Compare Hilite 25, 40, 55 and 70

Solar Gard's published table lists the following visible-light transmission and total solar energy rejected:

  • Hilite 25: 21% light transmission; 65% total solar energy rejected

  • Hilite 40: 40% light transmission; 61% total solar energy rejected

  • Hilite 55: 56% light transmission; 56% total solar energy rejected

  • Hilite 70: 70% light transmission; 54% total solar energy rejected

The manufacturer calculates these values using NFRC methodology and LBNL Window software on 1/4-inch clear glass. They are estimating figures subject to manufacturing variation. Existing tinted, insulated or coated glazing can change the result.

Total solar energy rejected is a glazing-performance measure. A listed percentage does not mean the room temperature or your cooling bill will fall by that percentage. We use the figures to support selection alongside the sample, the glass assessment and the way the space is used.

Should you start with the lightest choice?

If the room already has the amount of daylight you like, a lighter sample is a sensible place to begin the conversation. Then we check whether its shading addresses the brightness that bothers you. If direct sun lands on a screen or creates an uncomfortable bright window behind a desk, you may prefer to compare a darker option too.

This is why we ask when the problem happens and where you sit. A dining area used mainly in the evening may have different priorities from a home office used all afternoon. Our solar-control window film guide explains how heat, daylight and glare fit into the wider choice.

A showroom has another consideration: how the window looks to people outside. We review the view into the space, the display lighting and the proposed film's appearance from the sidewalk as well as from the room.

Does low reflection mean the glass will disappear?

No. Reflection is only one part of how a window looks. Tint, existing glass color, indoor lighting and the outdoor background also matter. A sample on the actual glazing is more useful than a picture of another building with different glass and exposure.

We also discuss adjacent panes and any appearance requirements from a landlord or association. If a property needs approval, the specific sample and product choice should be part of that review. Our Solar Gard window film guide gives an overview of other families we can consider when the preferred look or shading calls for a different comparison.

What goes into the installation recommendation?

We check glass construction, coatings, condition, previous film and access. Low-e and dual-pane windows need a product-specific compatibility assessment. We handle the measurements during the visit and explain which options are appropriate for the windows being treated.

The installation quote reflects the selected product, scope and preparation. We also review the applicable written warranty. A general brand description is not a substitute for the coverage attached to your chosen film and installation.

Questions about Panorama Hilite

Does Hilite 70 block 70% of the heat?

No. The product number is not a heat-blocking percentage. The manufacturer's reference-glass table lists 70% visible-light transmission and 54% total solar energy rejected for Hilite 70, on the basis described above.

Is Hilite 25 nearly invisible?

It transmits much less visible light than the lighter choices in the family. We show the difference in person so you can decide how much shading you want.

Will a lighter Hilite film remove all glare?

No film choice should be assumed to remove every source of glare. We compare the window, screen position and desired daylight level before making a recommendation.

Can Hilite replace curtains for nighttime privacy?

It should not be relied on for that purpose. When a room is lit after dark, the view inside can remain visible. We discuss separate privacy needs during the consultation.
