Avery Dennison SP e-Lite Interior Window Film
A bright living room can still need help with solar heat. Avery Dennison SP e-Lite interior window film is worth considering when keeping daylight and a clear view is an important part of the project. The family includes SP e-Lite 45i and 70i, two choices with noticeably different light levels.
We’ll bring samples to your property so you can compare them against the actual view. A free WindowTint.biz consultation includes a visit, measurements, answers to your questions and an on-site quote.
How do 45i and 70i compare?
Both are spectrally selective interior films. In practical terms, they offer solar control while preserving a useful amount of visible light. That makes them candidates for rooms where you want to reduce solar gain without choosing a deeply shaded appearance.
Manufacturer reference-glass comparison
SP e-Lite 45i
Visible light transmitted: 44%
Total solar energy rejected: 59%
SP e-Lite 70i
Visible light transmitted: 66%
Total solar energy rejected: 52%
Figures are from Avery Dennison’s individual data sheets, using each sheet’s Single-pane column. Avery calculates these values on 3 mm glass with NFRC methodology and LBNL Window 5.2. They are estimates for that reference glazing, not a prediction for your windows. The film names are grade names; they do not state exact installed light transmission.
70i transmits more daylight on Avery’s reference glass. It is a useful starting point when the outlook and the room’s bright feel take priority. 45i reduces more visible light and has higher total solar energy rejection in this comparison. If the sun feels harsh on a desk or dining table, the extra shading may be welcome.
The choice is not just a daytime decision. Look at what the room is like on an overcast morning and how much artificial lighting you normally use. A film that looks subtle in direct sun can feel more noticeable when the outdoor light drops.

Will a light film solve screen glare?
A light film can improve the balance of heat and daylight without giving the same glare relief as a darker option. That distinction matters if the window is directly behind a computer screen or low sun reaches the television. We’ll discuss the hours the room is used and compare the sample from the affected seat.
If screen visibility is the main problem, read our anti-glare window film guide. Sometimes a different shade, adjusted screen position or a blind for a short period of direct sun belongs in the solution. We explain those tradeoffs before you choose.
Keep the view and the building appearance in the conversation
SP e-Lite has a neutral appearance, but it does not make the glass optically unchanged. Existing glass color, reflections and the surroundings all influence the finished look. A side-by-side sample helps you judge the view from inside and the appearance across adjoining windows.
That is particularly useful for a condo, storefront or house with large connected panes. If an association or landlord controls the exterior appearance, the proposed finish should be reviewed before work is scheduled. For other Avery choices, see our Avery Dennison architectural film guide.
Interior application still needs a glass review
The “i” grades on this page are intended for interior application. Avery’s similarly named exterior films are separate products with their own installation requirements. We identify the glass construction and existing coatings, then assess condition, dimensions, shading and the intended application before recommending either interior grade.
Coastal properties also deserve a discussion about the window design and exposure. Edge treatment requirements can depend on the application and whether a window is fixed or operable. We’ll address the applicable requirements in the scope rather than assume that every coastal installation is identical.
The final quote identifies the film, preparation, access needs and applicable written coverage. A light-looking film should receive the same compatibility review as a dark one. Learn about the broader process on our home window film installation page.
For a coastal condominium, our coastal condo solar-film selection guide compares daylight, glare, glass compatibility and product-specific edge-treatment questions.

Questions about SP e-Lite interior
Does SP e-Lite 70i let exactly 70% of the light through?
No. The number is a product grade. Avery lists 66% visible light transmission in its Single-pane reference calculation. Your existing glazing can change the combined result.
Can I use it for privacy and keep the view?
SP e-Lite is primarily a solar-control choice. Do not rely on it for consistent privacy, especially after dark. We can discuss a separate privacy treatment if that is important for the room.
Does a high infrared figure mean a similar drop in heat or bills?
No. Infrared measures only part of the solar spectrum. Total solar energy rejection gives a different comparison, and neither figure predicts a particular temperature change or utility saving in your building.
Can SP e-Lite go on dual-pane or low-e windows?
Possibly, depending on the exact window and proposed film. We inspect the glazing and check the applicable manufacturer guidance and coverage before committing to the installation.
